Gig Recap – 28th May
Hello all!
Gig recap time! Once again, the gig on the 28th May was another great Comedy Basement show and I was incredibly pleased by the amount of people who turned up in the name of comedy, despite the sweltering oven like temperatures. I appreciate it and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves!
The comedy on show was once more top notch, with the best of Northern Irish (and one Scottish) comedians again strutting their stuff at McHughs. First up, Gary Croft welcomed us into his weird and somewhat disturbing (but relatable) world, Pete Maxwell did a great set, and not to mention doing the club a great favour by stepping in at the last minute (cheers Pete!), before Simon McCullagh closed the first half.
The interval was somewhat uneventful.
After the break we had our usual competition where the public slug it out to be funny to win the grand prize of a pint of harp, and the winner this time was the hilarious Peter, who will never let me look at Jackie Chan in the same way again.
After our competition, comedy newcomer Ruaidhrí Ward stepped up to the plate with only his second gig ever and the boy did good, so congrats to Ruaidhrí for that! The headline act was the marvellous and well respected Neil Dougan who performed a great 30 minute set to round off the evening!
So once again, thank you all so much for coming out last week and I can’t wrap up without thanking Paddy MGaughey for guest emceeing for you this week. Normal service will be resumed at our next gig, which will be on the 25th June so I hope to see you all there!!
Enjoy the summery weather. Y’all. See you on the 25th June!
