The Comedy Basement launched in 2009, having it’s first gig on January 29th. As opposed to trying to be a ‘competitor’ to the existing comedy clubs in Belfast, the Comedy Basement is presenting itself as an alternative choice and an opportunity to see the best of the up and coming stand up comedians from all over Ireland and occasionally beyond. Basically, you get to see some of the rawest (and freshest) comedic talent before they become arrogant and overcharge you to see a twenty minute show.
The Comedy Basement is run from the basement bar in McHughs Bar and Restaurant. McHughs offers a fantastic underground feel yet a professional venue that is perfect for the gig.
