30th July Review
Apparently a great night was had on the 30th July with the following words being said. These are not my words, but the words of the enigmatic stand up stand in host George Quinn:
A large and lively crowd attended the comedy basement and were treated to a night of diverse and unexpected comedy treats.
Mr Marcus Keeley opened the proceedings with his trademark “old beyond his years” brand of disaffectected ryness providing a unique platform for one of the wittiest sets on the local circuit.
Strong and original sets from double act Tom and Patty (AKA Scott Calonic & Stacey Mead), Ruaidhri (sp) Ward and Peter McCaughan also brought the house down. The night also featured energetic performances from Peter Maxwell and Aaron Butler.
To keep things in order the night was compered by George who was on form and had a monkey.
The big finish was provided by the one and only Mr Matthew Collins doing what only he can do. Original, smooth and gut-busting, nerd based humour solving Rubiks Cubes and battling goblins (who suck btw) en route. A great night and we hope to see many of you back for the next one.
Thanks to George for being the Comedy Custodian this month and we look forward to having y’all back for the last summer gig at the Comedy Basement before we hit the autumnal evenings. So drop down to the Comedy Basement on the 27th August. More details to follow in the next few days. Yeehah.
