25th June Gig 0

Hello Basement Dwellers!!

Just over a week until the next gig on June 25th and it is shaping up to be a corking night of chuckles and mirth! Headlining the comedic festivities will be a vetern of the Northern Irish circuit and Comedy Basement regular, the immensely talented Paddy McGaughey. Supporting Paddy will be the weird and wonderful comedy of Adam Laughlin and Féile FM superstar DJ, Shane Todd!

If that wasn’t enough serving of funniness, you will also bare witness to some open mic comedians trying their luck at the Comedy Basement for their first (or possibly second!) time, including a prior winner of the prestigious Comedy Basement Free Pint of Harp.

Is that all? Is that all? Well…yes. It is. Or, no. It isn’t! Not only am I pretending to be a pantomime, we also are pleased to be welcoming a special guest American comic to the Comedy Basement next Thursday June 25th!

It’s like Christmas for Comedy next week at the Comedy Basement so make sure you are there!

Thursday, June 2th, McHughs Bar and Restaurant – Basement Bar.
Entrance: £4.00
Doors: 7.30pm
Show: Approx. 8.45pm
Where: Comedy Basement, McHughs Bar and Restaurant, Belfast.

Gig Recap – 28th May 0

Hello all!

Gig recap time! Once again, the gig on the 28th May was another great Comedy Basement show and I was incredibly pleased by the amount of people who turned up in the name of comedy, despite the sweltering oven like temperatures. I appreciate it and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves!

The comedy on show was once more top notch, with the best of Northern Irish (and one Scottish) comedians again strutting their stuff at McHughs. First up, Gary Croft welcomed us into his weird and somewhat disturbing (but relatable) world, Pete Maxwell did a great set, and not to mention doing the club a great favour by stepping in at the last minute (cheers Pete!), before Simon McCullagh closed the first half.

The interval was somewhat uneventful.

After the break we had our usual competition where the public slug it out to be funny to win the grand prize of a pint of harp, and the winner this time was the hilarious Peter, who will never let me look at Jackie Chan in the same way again.

After our competition, comedy newcomer Ruaidhrí Ward stepped up to the plate with only his second gig ever and the boy did good, so congrats to Ruaidhrí for that! The headline act was the marvellous and well respected Neil Dougan who performed a great 30 minute set to round off the evening!

So once again, thank you all so much for coming out last week and I can’t wrap up without thanking Paddy MGaughey for guest emceeing for you this week. Normal service will be resumed at our next gig, which will be on the 25th June so I hope to see you all there!!

Enjoy the summery weather. Y’all. See you on the 25th June!
