28th May Gig 0

Hello Basement Dwellers (see what I did there, it’s not a derogatory term, it’s now a new term of affection!),

It’s once again Comedy Basement Time at the end of the month! As always, the last Thursday of the month will be brining you a lot of comedic delight. This time round , you can enjoy some spectacular homegrown comedic talent on the 28th May!

That’s right folks, you’ll get to see two up and coming comedians well worth catching now, Gary Croft and Simon McCullagh, who will be offering support to the headline act of the evening, Neil Dougan. Neil is one of the fastest rising acts in the Irish comedy circuit today and is a regular at the Belfast Laughter Lounge. Not only is Neil Dougan an accomplished stand up comedian, he has been responsible for writing for Patrick Kielty’s PK Tonight, Really Really on UTV and Nutt’s Corner, a comedy sketch show on Radio Ulster.

Neil Dougan is by far one of the best comedians from Northern Ireland at this time and this is your chance to see him for only £4.00, as well as supporting acts from Gary and Simon, there will be a few new faces to the comedy scene trying their luck.

Of course, that’s not all! If you think you’re funny then come prepared with a joke or two to try and win a free pint of Harp Lager in our regular competition!

As always, bring a crowd and I hope to see you there for a great night of belly laughs.

Gig Recap – 28th April 0

Thursday April 30th will go down officially as the night where American comedians stromed the show! Despite reduced numbers, the Comedy Basement kept standards at a high level for underground comedy clubs by bringing the fantastic Eric Shantz to a headline position in the Basement.

A great performer, Shantz had the audience with him for his entire set and had them hanging on his every word. A true great up and coming performer in Ireland, not to mention a good sound guy too!

But, all the praise for a great evening’s comedy doesn’t go to Eric, as despite some technical difficulties, Jason O’Neill kept the show going as the guest emcee, while Adam Laughlin, TNT, Shane Todd and George Quinn kept the night flowing.

That’s it for now folks, the next gig will be on the 28th May and will feature guest emcee Paddy McGaughey as well as performances from Gary Croft, Simon McCullagh and a headline slot for the great Neil Dougan.

See you there!
