Gig Recap – March 26th 0

The gig only ended but 2 1/2 hours ago but here I am on the Internet writing about it, that’s how much I enjoyed tonights gig!

A big big thank you to the audience tonight who came out in full force and gave their support to the comedy gig, big thank you to Dee from New Zealand, and I’m going to hazard a guess at spelling Delphine as Delphine from France for being excellent and fair judges and of course Simon for being good craic. Thank you so much to the entire audience for being great…except the one person who signed the email list with: “whensthisgetfunny@seriously.com” – although thank you for the amusement on the way home whilst reading that, I like what they did. Shame they were wrong. Oh well! :)

So, Paddy McGaughey got the show off to a great start with great following performances from Sean Heagerty, Liam Watson and Adam Laughlin. The interval deserves an honourable mention here. Congrats to Simon for winning his free pint of Harp and Micky Bartlett got the second half off to a great pace. Graeme Watson, Alan Fletcher and Pete Maxwell delivered their performances with the skill and flair only found at the Comedy Basement before Diarmuid Corr literally tore the house down with a great headline act. Where else would you get 9 comedians for £4.00?! Madness!!

So, all thats left is to say thanks again and I look forward to seeing you all on the 30th April, we continue to grow from strength to strength and that’s thanks to all your support and effort in coming down to see the gigs and we love you for it! Great job!

Feel free to contact us for any reason what so ever, whether it’s to find out about gigs, whether you’re interested in performing or simply just want to let us know you were at a gig and exactly what you thought about it (even the email fraudster, why you little scamp!). Feel free to join us on FaceBook and let us know what you think!

Between now and 30th April, keep checking back on this site for updates and information on a fantastic prize we’ll be giving away (no, not a Kit Kat this time!). Stay tuned!

One week until gig 0

In exactly one week from tonight, the Comedy Basement will be having it’s third gig of this year. I call upon all yee Comedy Fans to do your part and come and support local comedic talent by popping on down to McHughs Bar.

Few things I’d like to address, first of all, the gig is next week, thats March 26th, so please come on down to support the gig, we’re going from strength to strength and it’s thanks to yourselves, a great audience. I know everyone says that but the audiences down at the Basement have been top notch, really supportive especially considering some guys are new to the comedy scene and a relaxed atmosphere helps out. That said and done, on March 26th, we have Diarmuid Corr headlining so that will be a real treat and April is shaping up to be a great month too! More details will be posted in the coming days, or keep checking the Gigs section of this site.

Secondly, as always, we’re on the look out for new comedic talent, so if you want to get involved or fancy having a crack at stand up comedy, feel free to get in touch with us through the website, regardless of what experience you have. Or, if you’re just looking for some friendly advice on the comedy scene in Belfast, drop us a line.

Thirdly, I know I’ve said for ages about getting pictures online, I will do it soon – technical glitches, I haven’t worked out how to do that through Wordpress yet though it should be easy, so bear with me on that. More updates will be coming to the site soon.

So, that’s all for now folks, keep coming back and keep supporting local Comedy. We’re going to kick start a new online competition in the coming weeks so that’s going to be awesome and we’re going to continue doing what we do best, delivering top notch comedy to you, the best damn audience in the world!

See yas next Thursday! :)

In the second half, Shane Todd opened paving way for another Belfast debutant, FJ Murray and the respsected Paul Currie finished the evening off with an entertaining set.
